FREEZE YOUR SANDWICH
Many sandwiches can be safely frozen for use the
next day. Here are some tips:
 | The spread you use should not only freeze well
but once it starts to defrost it should not turn bad. Some
suggested spreads can be found at PACKING A LUNCH.
If you want to use a spread that will not freeze well, put it in a separate
container (or zip lock), refrigerate & you can spread it when you are
ready to eat the sandwich.
Apply the spread of choice to your bread. |
 | Add the filling to one slice of the bread. |
 | Top with the second slice of bread. |
 | Wrap well in freezer paper or a moisture-proof
paper, mark it, freeze it. |
 | Prepare the vegetables (lettuce, tomato, pickle,
etc) & put in a zip lock type bag & refrigerate it overnight. |
 | In the morning you can place the frozen sandwich
& the bag of vegetables in the lunch box. It should take from 3 to
3 1/2 hours to thaw, meanwhile your lunch box stays somewhat cool. |
 | Be careful what you put on the bread before
freezing. |
It's not a bad idea to send a box of juice with the
lunch. Just freeze it also. This too should be wrapped in
moister-proof paper to keep the lunch box dry.
