bulletGRILL:  BRUSH OR TOSS SPEARS WITH OIL TO COAT THEM EVENLY.  GRILL OVER MEDIUM DIRECT HEAT 4-6 MINUTES OR UNTIL BROWNED & YET STILL CRISP-TENDER.
bulletMICROWAVE:  PLACE 1 POUND OF SPEARS IN A MICROWAVE-SAFE DISH WITH 1/4 CUP WATER.  COVER WITH PLASTIC WRAP VENTING ONE CORNER.  MICROWAVE ON HIGH 3-6 MINUTES; REMOVE & LET STAND 3 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING.
bulletBLANCH OR BOIL:  BRING 1 TO 1 1/2 INCHES OF WATER TO A BOIL IN A LARGE SKILLET.  SALT THE WATER SLIGHTLY WHEN IT COMES TO A BOIL; THAT WILL HELP RETAIN THE BRIGHT GREEN COLOR.  ADD THE ASPARAGUS, BRING TOA BOIL, THEN REDUCE THE HEAT TO A SIMMER & COOK 2-5 MINUTES OR UNTIL TENDER CRISP.
bulletSTEAM:  PLACE WHOLE SPEARS ON A STEAMER RACK IN A LARGE SAUCEPAN OVER BOILING WATER.  COVER & STEAM ABOUT 5 MINUTES OR UNTIL THE SPEARS ARE BRIGHT GREEN & CRISP-TENDER.
