WHAT'S BELOW:
BLOWING OUT THE EGG Using a needle, poke a small hole in the narrow end of the egg, & a slightly larger hole in the other end. Move the pin around inside the egg to make sure you break the yolk. Hold the egg over a bowl, blow through the small hole. The egg will be forced out the larger hole & into the bowl. Be sure to rinse the egg shell well with water & let it dry well before you color it. USING EGG SHELLS AS A MOLD Place a small amount of wax over the small hole of your egg shell & make the large hold a bit larger. Carefully pour melted chocolate into the egg shell & place the shell full of chocolate in an egg carton small (waxed) end down. Refrigerate until chocolate is hard. Carefully remove the shell - one solid chocolate egg! USING NATURAL COLORING INGREDIENTS The following natural ingredients make good egg coloring dyes PALE RED: Fresh beets or cranberries, frozen raspberries ORANGE: Yellow onion skins LIGHT YELLOW: Orange or lemon peels, carrot tops, celery seed or ground cumin. YELLOW: Ground turmeric PALE GREEN: Spinach leaves GREEN-GOLD: Yellow Delicious apple peels BLUE: Canned blueberries or red cabbage leaves BEIGE TO BROWN: Strong brewed coffee To make your dye add the ingredient's for the color you want, 1 teaspoon of vinegar & eggs (room temperature & only one layer of eggs please) to a pot of water, covering the eggs & bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer, cooking for about 15 minutes. The more eggs you will be coloring means the more ingredients & water you will use. If you want darker colors let the water cool & store eggs in the dye overnight in your refrigerator. For a really neat touch polish colored eggs with a soft cloth & small amount of cooking oil.
