ROAST TURKEY INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS: If you are going to stuff the turkey with dressing do not salt the cavity, if not then it is recommended to rub the cavity lightly with salt. The turkey should be rinsed & dried completely. If stuffing the bird, fill the wishbone area with stuffing & fasten the neck skin to the back with a skewer. Then fill the cavity with stuffing & tie the drumsticks to hold in the dressing. Do not "pack" the dressing as it will expand during cooking. Preheat oven to 325 F (162.78 C). Place turkey breast up in a large roasting pan. Lightly brush the bird with oil & bake 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours or until internal temperature reaches 185 F. When the turkey reaches a golden brown lightly brush with BBQ sauce, cover the turkey loosely with foil & continue to cook until done. About 2/3d the way thru cooking the legs can be opened to aid in cooking the dressing. SERVINGS: About 3/4 LB per person SERVING TIPS: Always check the package recommendations for internal temperature and use a good thermometer to check the temperature in the thigh, breast & dressing. Use your own stuffing or try CORN BREAD & SAUSAGE STUFFING or BREAD STUFFING. You can omit the BBQ sauce or use your own, we recommend BARBEQUE SAUCE, BARBECUE SAUCE 1, BARBEQUE SAUCE 2, CHICKEN BBQ SAUCE. ROAST TURKEY |
